GES Invites Regional and District Directors to Key Workplan Development Workshop Under GALOP Funding

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced a nationwide production workshop aimed at strengthening educational planning across regions and districts under the Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) Additional Financing.

In a letter dated April 28, 2026, and signed by the Director-General, Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, all Regional and District Directors have been directed to nominate their respective Budget Officers to participate in the workshop. The initiative is designed to support the development of comprehensive and actionable workplans that will guide the effective implementation of GALOP interventions.

Purpose of the Workshop

According to the GES, the workshop will focus on equipping participants with the necessary tools to develop composite regional and district workplans. These plans are expected to cover critical areas such as:

  • Communities of Excellence
  • Differentiated Learning strategies
  • In-Service Education and Training (INSET) for Kindergarten teachers
  • Monitoring and reporting on the utilization of learning grants
  • Supervision of teaching and learning activities

The overarching goal is to ensure that all regions and districts are aligned in executing GALOP programs efficiently and effectively.

Schedule and Venue

The workshop will be conducted in four cohorts from May 10 to May 23, 2026, at the Noda Hotel in Fumesua-Kumasi, located in the Ashanti Region. Each cohort will host participants from selected regions, allowing for structured and focused engagement.

Participation Requirements

GES has emphasized that all participants must attend with their laptops, as the workshop will be highly practical. By the end of each session, attendees are expected to produce draft workplans ready for further refinement and implementation.

This initiative reflects GES’s ongoing commitment to improving learning outcomes through strategic planning and accountability. By ensuring that districts are well-prepared with clear and comprehensive plans, the Service aims to maximize the impact of GALOP funding and enhance the quality of basic education delivery across Ghana.
