Emotional Scene as Nursing Mother Attends to Baby During BECE Paper in Krachi East

A crying baby briefly interrupted the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination in the Krachi East District after it was brought into the examination hall during the Integrated Science paper to be attended to by a candidate who is reportedly a nursing mother.

According to reports from the examination centre, the incident caused a brief interruption to the conduct of the paper as the candidate was allowed to attend to the baby under strict supervision from invigilators and examination officials.

Witnesses indicated that the situation was handled calmly and professionally to ensure that order was maintained in the examination hall while also considering the welfare of both the mother and child.

Although the interruption lasted only a short while, the incident has sparked conversations on the challenges faced by some candidates, particularly young mothers, who continue to pursue their education while balancing parental responsibilities.

The ongoing BECE, organized by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), is being written by thousands of candidates across the country at various examination centres.

Education stakeholders have often highlighted the need for continuous support systems for young mothers in school to enable them to complete their education without major barriers.

Despite the brief disruption, the Integrated Science paper reportedly continued smoothly afterward, with candidates completing the examination under normal conditions.
