Two CTK SHS Students Hospitalized After Cutlass-Wielding Gang Attack on Campus
Two students of Christ the King (CTK) Senior High School in Obuasi, located in the Ashanti Region, are receiving medical treatment after sustaining injuries during a violent attack by a gang armed with cutlasses.
The shocking incident occurred on the school premises shortly after final-year students had completed their final examination paper.
According to reports, the attackers are believed to be a group of young men from the nearby communities of Tutuka, Akaporiso, and Pomposo. The gang reportedly stormed the campus and launched an assault that left two students injured and the entire school community traumatized.
Speaking on the incident, the Headmaster of the school, Owusu Gyimah, revealed that the attackers are linked to a faction that includes some students of the school.
He explained that members of the gang had on several occasions attempted to gain access to the campus to harass female students. However, their efforts were consistently resisted by the school’s cadet corps, who prevented them from entering the school grounds.
According to the headmaster, tensions escalated when student members of the gang identified specific cadet leaders who had repeatedly blocked their attempts to enter the school. The disagreement is believed to have culminated in the targeted attack on the campus.
Mr. Gyimah expressed deep concern over the development, noting that many students are living in fear following the incident and urgently require enhanced security and protection.
The Ghana Police Service has since launched an investigation into the attack and is working to identify and arrest those responsible. Although no arrests have been made so far, several residents in the area reportedly claim they can identify some of the individuals involved in the assault.
In the aftermath of the attack, both staff and students have called for immediate measures to improve security at the school. They are appealing for the deployment of a permanent police presence on campus and the construction of a perimeter fence to prevent future intrusions and ensure the safety of students and staff.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations continue.
