Outrage as Winneba Technical Institute Students Seen Brandishing Weapons in Viral Video

A disturbing video circulating on social media has sparked public outrage after it captured some students of the Winneba Technical Institute openly displaying a variety of weapons on school grounds.
The footage, which has since gone viral, shows several male students brazenly wielding machetes, clubs, and other dangerous objects, raising alarm among parents, education stakeholders, and the general public. The behavior has been widely condemned as not only irresponsible but a dangerous sign of growing indiscipline and violence in some schools.

The video comes at a particularly sensitive time, as Ghanaians are still reeling from the recent tragedy involving Suzzy Pinamang, a student of the Adventist Senior High School (SDA) in Kumasi. Suzzy was shot in the face by a fellow student who brought a weapon to school, leaving her with life-altering injuries. Her case, which is still under investigation, has reignited calls for tighter security and stricter discipline in Ghana’s schools.
Many social media users and concerned citizens have expressed dismay over the apparent lack of control and oversight at Winneba Technical Institute. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has yet to release an official statement on the incident, but calls are mounting for an urgent investigation and immediate disciplinary action against the students involved.

Security analysts and education experts have also weighed in, urging school authorities to take proactive steps to prevent such incidents, including thorough security checks, guidance and counseling interventions, and stiffer penalties for violent behavior.
As the nation continues to advocate for a safe and disciplined learning environment, the latest incident at Winneba Technical Institute serves as a troubling reminder of the urgent need to address violence and indiscipline within the educational system before more lives are put at risk.
