“I Was Testing The Gun”: Chaos at Adventist SHS as Student Shoots Two Classmates

A tragic incident unfolded at the Seventh-Day Adventist Senior High School (Adventist SHS) in Bantama, Ashanti Region, on Friday, April 4, 2025, as a student opened fire on campus, leaving two of his classmates seriously injured.
The suspect, identified as Bernard Amoabeng, a form two student, reportedly brought a firearm to school during break time. According to eyewitness accounts from within the school, a heated argument broke out among some students over the authenticity and functionality of the weapon.
In a disturbing attempt to demonstrate that the gun was real and could work, Amoabeng allegedly pulled the trigger. The resulting discharge left two students wounded.
One of the victims, identified only as Penamang, sustained a critical gunshot wound to the forehead. She was first rushed to Kwadaso Hospital but, due to the seriousness of her condition, was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she remains under intensive care.
The second victim, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, also received medical attention, though the extent of their injuries remains unclear.
