GES Suspends SLOAS Training for Basic School Teachers Indefinitely

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has indefinitely suspended the planned district-level training on the Schools Learning Outcome Analysis System (SLOAS) for basic school teachers across the country.

The directive was contained in an official letter dated November 6, 2026, and signed by the Deputy Director-General (Management Services), Prof. Smile Dzisi, on behalf of the Director-General of the GES.

According to the letter, the suspension takes immediate effect and affects the implementation of the training programme, which was expected to be rolled out by Keep Premium Solutions Ltd. under the National Teaching Council’s (NTC) Continuous Professional Development (CPD) training programme.

The GES explained that the decision follows an earlier letter dated October 12, 2026, with reference number GES/DD-G(MS)/1/26/466, which communicated approval for Keep Premium Solutions Ltd. to conduct the district-level SLOAS training for basic school teachers nationwide.

However, in its latest communication, the Service announced that the implementation of the programme had been suspended indefinitely.

As part of the directive, all Regional Directors have been instructed to communicate the decision to their respective Metro, Municipal and District Directors.

The directors have also been asked to stop any ongoing or scheduled preparations relating to the training programme until further notice.

This means that any arrangements being made at the district level for the SLOAS training are expected to be put on hold following the new directive.

Although the GES has confirmed the indefinite suspension, the letter does not provide a specific reason for the decision.

It also does not indicate when the training programme may resume, leaving its future implementation uncertain.

Basic school teachers who were expecting to participate in the district-level training will therefore have to await further communication from the Ghana Education Service.

The letter was copied to the Director-General of the GES, the Deputy Director-General (Quality Assurance), the Director of Schools and Instructions Division (Secondary), the Registrar of the National Teaching Council and the Board Chairman of Keep Premium Solutions.

The GES has urged all Regional Directors to cooperate with the directive and ensure that it is communicated to the relevant offices.
