GES Announces Commencement of 2025 Inter-Regional and District Reposting Processes

The Ghana Education Service (GES) is pleased to officially announce the commencement of the 2025 inter-regional, inter-district, and intra-district reposting processes for teaching and non-teaching staff across the country.
This annual reposting initiative allows GES personnel the opportunity to request transfers between or within regions and districts to better align with personal, professional, or family considerations. The reposting process ensures an organized and transparent system that balances staff welfare with operational needs.
Key Dates for 2025 Reposting Cycle
- Issuance of Assurance Letters: Friday, 2nd May 2025 to Monday, 2nd June 2025
- Deadline for Submission to HQ by Regional Offices: Tuesday, 3rd June 2025
- Processing of Inter-Regional Applications at Headquarters Begins: Tuesday, 1st July 2025
(All approved repostings will take effect from September 2025)
General Guidelines
Applicants are reminded that no reposting is valid unless it is approved by the Director-General of GES, and all necessary documentation must be submitted before the stated deadlines. Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.
The procedure for seeking assurance remains unchanged, and staff are encouraged to follow the prescribed processes closely. For clarity and support, individuals should contact their respective District or Regional Education Offices.
Detailed Reposting Procedures
Intra-District Reposting
This process allows staff to transfer from one school to another within the same district.
- The applicant writes to the Metro/Municipal/District Director expressing interest in the reposting.
- Required documents include a current payslip, personal record form, academic/professional certificates, and bank clearance.
- The Metro/Municipal/District Director grants final approval after reviewing the application.
Inter-District Reposting
For those seeking reposting to a different district within the same region:
- The applicant obtains an Assurance of Vacancy from the preferred district.
- The application, along with necessary documents (payslip, certificates, bank clearance, assurance letter, etc.), is submitted to the current district office.
- The current District Director recommends the release to the Regional Director.
- Final approval is granted by the Regional Director, who notifies the current district and school leadership.
Note: No inter-district reposting takes effect without the written approval of the Regional Director.
Inter-Regional Reposting
For transfers between different regions:
- The applicant seeks Assurance of Vacancy through their Metro/Municipal/District Director in the desired region.
- After securing the assurance, they apply for release from their current district, submitting all required documentation including the inter-regional reposting form.
- The District Director forwards the complete application to the Regional Director, who sends it to the GES Headquarters.
- The Director-General of GES grants final approval, after which the Regional Director issues the release letter.
Important: Only the Director-General can approve inter-regional repostings. Regional Directors act upon these approvals to complete the reposting process.
GES appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders as it works to ensure a smooth and efficient reposting process.
