Vice President Bawumia has stated that the government would provide computers to SHSs with built-in textbooks

In the forthcoming academic year, all Senior High Schools (SHSs) will receive laptop computers with built-in textbooks, according to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The purpose of this project is to lessen the enormous expenses related to printing textbooks.

On May 27, Dr. Bawumia made the news during the E.P Senior High School (HEPSS) 60th anniversary celebration in Hohoe, Volta Region.

The celebration, with the subject “HEPSS @ 60: Reflections on our Journey and Inspiring New Directions – The Role of Stakeholders,” highlighted the school’s outstanding academic standards and disciplinary record and positioned it as one of the best secondary institutions in the nation.

The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) received praise from the vice president for its significant contribution to Ghana’s culture and education.

He referred to HEPSS as a magnificent repository of knowledge that, over the last six decades, had produced accomplished people for the country.

Dr. Bawumia talked on the Free SHS policy and mentioned the sharp rise in enrollment since its implementation, from 800,000 to 1.4 million children. This increase represents a progress in ensuring equal access to education.

He also emphasized the significant progress made toward gender parity in the educational system, as demonstrated by HEPSS, which enrolls 1,491 boys and 1,878 girls.

In order to expand access to high-quality education, the Vice President also described the government’s intentions for infrastructure improvement on SHS campuses.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the introduction of laptop computers with integrated textbooks would expose pupils to the world of data, contemporary systems, and innovation.

He concluded by advising them to work hard in their studies and set high standards for themselves, telling them that they could succeed in their future endeavors if they were committed and determined.
