UCC Level 200 Student Dies After Tragic Accident While Returning for Student ID
A Level 200 student of the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Caleb Mensah, popularly known as Paywa, has tragically lost his life following a road accident that occurred near the Norman Bu area on campus.
Caleb Mensah, a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Finance student and an affiliate of Oguaa Hall, reportedly met his untimely death on Thursday afternoon while attempting to return to pick up his student identification card.
According to information gathered, Caleb had entered the examination hall without his student ID and was asked to go back and retrieve it before he could take part in the exam.
The unfortunate accident occurred around 2:00 PM at the R Terminal along the Shatta Wale route. Caleb was reportedly riding as a passenger on a motorcycle when he accidentally dropped an item along the road. As the rider attempted to turn back to retrieve the item, the motorcycle reportedly hit a pothole.
The impact caused Caleb to lose balance and jump off the motorcycle. In a tragic twist, he stepped into the path of an oncoming shuttle bus, which struck and ran over him.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical attention, but sadly he did not survive the injuries sustained in the accident.
The shocking incident has left many students of the University of Cape Coast in deep sorrow, as tributes continue to pour in for the young student whose life was cut short under such heartbreaking circumstances.
University authorities are yet to officially comment on the incident as investigations into the accident continue.
