Teacher Unions to all teachers on Matters Arising from Collective Bargaining Agreement (Conditions of Service) Negotiations

In a letter dated January 25, 2024, signed by all presidents of the respective teacher unions, the teacher unions is notifying all teachers across the country on matters arising from collective bargaining, that is, conditions of service negotiations.

The teacher unions stated emphatically in the letter that the existing conditions of service for teachers in pre-tertiary education sector expired in August 2023.

The letter highlighted three major issues and stated that negotiations is expected to end by the end of February 2024.

“1. The existing Conditions of Service for Teachers in Pre-Tertiary Education Sector expired in August 2023.

2. Negotiations for a new Conditions of Service has commenced.

3. All Teachers should be rest assured that their interest will be jealously guarded and protected.

It is our hope and expectation that by the end of February 2024, negotiations would have been completed after which we shall communicate to you. Thank you.”, the letter read.
