Northern Regional Police refute claim of influencing bail by Northern Regional NPP Chairman

Management of the Tamale Regional Police Headquarters has released an official statement with reference number-PAU/NR/VOL.1/55, dated August 14, 2022, signed by Bernard Baba Ananga; superintendent, addressing the general public on how their attention has been drawn to a social media publication in which the Northern Regional NPP chairman, Mr. Adam Bantima Samba is seen making a claim to the effect that he will make a record by breaking police principle of not granting or administering bail at night.

Management of the Tamale Regional Police state it categorically that, there is no such principle or rule that forbids the police or clothe the police with the authority not to grant bail at night. The administration further wishes to state that BAIL is a constitutional right of arrested persons and can be granted at any time of the day, with holidays and weekends inclusive.

They declare the statement made by Mr. Samba as erroneous, and shows a clear demonstration of ignorance of the law on his part. The public are therefore regarded to treat such information with contempt it deserves.
