Nine fishermen allegedly disappeared at sea
As a canoe and its nine crew members vanished on rough seas, fishermen in Takoradi, a coastal district in the Western region, are living in fear.
On June 27, 2023, the crew members set sail, but they haven’t come back.
The fisherman reportedly lost contact with their teammates soon after heading out to sea. The nine crew members’ loved ones are concerned because none of them have been located.
The boat’s owner, Kwame Tawiah, told the reporters that the crew had left the Ngyirasia fishing harbor for the Half Assini region but hadn’t come back.

He continued by saying they had contacted the Police for help and were hopeful the team would show up shortly.
Mr. Tawiah also disclosed that the missing crew made a brief phone call to him on July 7 morning, saying they were all still alive but the boat was out of fuel. However, their phone quickly rang, and it is currently unknown where they are.
MTN has been notified to assist in locating the missing crew members, and six additional boats have been dispatched to search for them.
The situation is still tense, and the fishermen are still missing.
