Mother in Tears as Daughter Placed in School Located on a Farm Near Kasoa

A mother was left in tears after discovering that her daughter has been placed in a Senior High School reportedly situated on a farm near Kasoa.

Speaking to the media, the distraught woman explained that she had selected the school herself during the placement process, only to later realize its unusual location. According to her, the school is surrounded by a farm environment, raising concerns about the suitability of the learning atmosphere for her daughter.

She added that after noticing the situation, she made efforts to request a change of placement. However, authorities from the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) informed her that the placement exercise could not be altered.

The incident has sparked conversations among parents and guardians about the transparency of the placement system and the need for thorough research on school selections. Some education watchers argue that while the CSSPS ensures fairness in placements, parents must carefully consider the facilities, environment, and reputation of schools before making choices for their wards.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has consistently emphasized that placements are final unless there are proven errors or exceptional circumstances.

The mother’s emotional account highlights the growing concerns of parents over the placement process, especially when their wards end up in schools that may not meet their expectations.
