In your WhatsApp group conversations, you may utilise Meta AI to pose queries and receive responses. Both the messages you send to Meta AI and Meta AI’s answer will be visible to other users in the chat. Meta provides and oversees Meta AI as an optional service.
When you prompt the artificial intelligence (AI), it uses a Meta service to generate messages from Meta AI and other characters in response to your commands.
Only queries mentioning @Meta AI will be reviewed and answered by Meta AI. No other inquiries will be accepted. No one, not even Meta or WhatsApp, can view or hear your private conversations or messages because they are still end-to-end encrypted.
Ask AI a question in a group chat
- Open the group chat you’d like to use AI in.
- Type @ in the message field, then tap Meta AI.
- If prompted, read and accept the terms.
- Type your prompt.
- Tap send
- AI’s response will be displayed in the chat.

Reply to AI
- Swipe right on the AI message.
- Type your message.
- Tap send
Note:
- This feature is currently only available in limited countries and might not be available to you yet.
- At this time, only English is supported.
- Meta uses AI chats consistent with Meta’s Privacy Policy. By using this feature, you agree to Meta’s AI Terms of Service.
- You have the option to delete individual chats with AIs or request the deletion of information you previously shared with Meta AI. Learn more in this article.
- Some messages generated by AIs might not be accurate or appropriate.
