Glikpome Basic School Headteacher Found Dead in Akatsi Guesthouse

The Headteacher of Glikpome Basic School in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, Mr. Selorm Kwaku Tettey, has been found dead in a guesthouse in Akatsi, with police launching investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mr. Tettey, who was 44 years old and popularly known as “TK,” was reportedly discovered unresponsive on a bed at the Joli Bebe Guesthouse on Tuesday by a housekeeping staff member during routine duties.

Following the discovery, the incident was reported to the area’s assembly member, who subsequently alerted the Ghana Police Service. Officers arrived at the scene to begin preliminary investigations.

According to eyewitness accounts, there were no visible signs of physical assault on the deceased’s body during the initial examination at the scene. However, authorities have not disclosed the cause of death, pending further investigations.

Police also retrieved several items from the guesthouse room, including a mobile phone, canned malt drinks, and other personal belongings belonging to the deceased. The items have been taken into police custody to assist with ongoing investigations.

The body has since been conveyed for preservation and further examination as investigators work to establish the exact circumstances that led to the headteacher’s death.

Residents, colleagues, and members of the education community have expressed shock over the incident, as many await the outcome of the police investigation.

The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the case, and investigations remain ongoing.
