GES Requests Update of Staff Records on Management Information System

The Ghana Education Service (GES) Central Regional Office has issued a directive requiring all Heads of Schools and Directors of Education to update their records on the Ghana Education Service Management Information System (GESMIS). This exercise is part of the GES’s commitment to maintaining accurate and up-to-date data on staff and schools for effective decision-making.

In a letter dated January 8, 2025, signed by Mr. Emmanuel Essuman, the Regional Director of Education, the management outlined the specific activities Heads of Schools and Directors of Education must undertake to ensure compliance with the directive.

Key Activities for GESMIS Record Updates

  1. Updating Records by New or Reposted Heads (Basic and SHS):
Heads recently appointed or reposted to new schools are required to ensure that their school’s profile on GESMIS is updated to reflect their current status. This includes the head’s name and contact information.
  2. Onboarding of SHS One Enrolments:
All schools must upload the details of newly enrolled SHS One students onto the GESMIS platform promptly.
  3. Release and Acceptance of Transferred Staff:
Heads of schools must ensure that staff transferred from or to their schools are appropriately updated in the GESMIS system. This involves releasing records of transferred staff from their previous schools and onboarding newly joined staff.

The deadline for completing this exercise is January 25, 2025. Schools requiring assistance have been advised to contact their district HR or Statistics Officers.

This initiative further underscores the GES’s dedication to improving efficiency in data handling and ensuring that schools remain accountable for their staff and student records.

Distribution and Compliance

The directive has been communicated to Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education, as well as Heads of Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools in the region. Heads of Schools are encouraged to comply within the stipulated timeline to avoid any disruptions in their operations.
