The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reaffirmed that the reopening dates for Senior High Schools (SHS) remain unchanged for the 2024/2025 academic calendar.

In a press release dated January 2, 2025, GES reminded students, parents, staff, and the general public that SHS students are expected to report back to school on January 3, 2025.

For primary and Junior High Schools (JHS), reopening is scheduled for January 8, 2025. The management emphasized the importance of stakeholders adhering to these dates and making necessary arrangements to ensure a smooth transition into the new academic term.

GES further disclosed that it is actively engaging the Ministry of Education to address concerns raised by the leadership of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS). Although the specific issues were not detailed in the release, GES assured stakeholders that efforts are being made for a prompt resolution.

The statement, signed by Cassandra Twum Ampofo, Head of the Public Relations Unit, concluded with an appeal for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the academic calendar.

This reiteration by GES comes at a time when maintaining consistency in the school calendar is vital for educational planning and outcomes. Parents and students are advised to take note of these reopening dates and prepare accordingly.
