The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured parents, guardians, and candidates who sat for the just-ended Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) that every qualified student will be placed in a Senior High School (SHS) or Technical School across the country.
In a statement issued on May 14, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Relations for GES, Mr. Daniel Fenyi, the Service stated that adequate preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth placement process for all successful candidates.
Management of GES congratulated all BECE candidates for successfully completing their examinations and encouraged them to remain calm while the placement processes are finalized.
The Service also dismissed circulating reports claiming that about 72,000 candidates could miss out on placement, describing such figures as false, misleading, and unsupported by facts.

According to GES, there is enough infrastructure and capacity nationwide to accommodate all qualified students seeking admission into Senior High and Technical Schools.
GES further explained that the ongoing transition aimed at phasing out the double-track system will not affect access to secondary education. Instead, the reform is intended to improve teaching and learning outcomes while ensuring that all qualified students continue to gain admission.
Management of the Ghana Education Service reiterated its commitment to providing equitable and quality education for every Ghanaian child and called on the public to support the placement process and avoid spreading misinformation.
The assurance from GES is expected to bring relief to thousands of parents and candidates who have expressed concerns following reports suggesting limited placement opportunities for this year’s BECE graduates.
