GES Announces Headcount and Verification Exercise for Senior High/Technical Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the commencement of a headcount and verification exercise across all Senior High and Technical Schools (SHTS) in the country. This exercise is set to take place following the annual placement of students and aims to ensure accurate records of student enrollment.
According to a letter signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, the headcount seeks to achieve two primary objectives:
- Reconciliation of Enrollment Data: The exercise will match the number of students recorded in the Student Information System (SIS) with the actual number of students physically present in schools. This measure ensures that the records maintained in the system accurately reflect on-the-ground realities.
- Validation for Payment Processes: A final validated list of students will be compiled to streamline all subsequent payment-related activities for schools.

The letter directs all Regional Directors of Education to notify the heads of Senior High and Technical Schools about the exercise, emphasizing its urgency.
By conducting this exercise, the GES aims to enhance accountability and efficiency in the education sector, especially concerning resource allocation and financial management.
The GES has assured stakeholders that this initiative is a routine procedure to improve the quality and reliability of data within the educational system. It reflects the service’s commitment to maintaining transparency and ensuring that schools are adequately equipped to handle the needs of their students.
This announcement highlights the GES’s proactive steps in managing the growing student population across SHTS and ensuring that accurate data is available for effective decision-making.
