Family files GES petition about Labone SHS student’s alleged assault and suspension
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has received a petition from the family of a Labone Senior High School form three student, requesting an investigation into an alleged physical assault and an indefinite suspension from the school’s boarding house.
The incident, which allegedly happened on June 18, 2024, has sparked questions about how school administrators have been acting.
The family claimed in a June 21, 2024, petition to the Director-General of the GES that the student had been slapped by the senior housemaster after the student had been charged by the school prefect of using a cell phone and not giving it up.

It is reported that the student was not allowed to attend classes and was held in an office without food or drink until his parents arrived at the school at 2:00 pm. The petition claimed that the headmistress approved of the acts.
Because there is no record of the student being disciplined, the family therefore wants the GES to look into the claims thoroughly and impartially, rescind the student’s permanent expulsion from the boarding house, and let him finish his education in a supportive setting.
