Director of legal education arranges scholarships for 100 students

Around 100 law students will receive scholarships thanks to efforts by the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, Barima Yaw D. Oppong, director of legal education at the Ghana School of Law, and other charitable organizations.

The Ghana School of Law was previously recognized as the Best Internal Audit Unit in 2021 in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies Category by the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), an advisory body of the Ministry of Finance, during the agency’s Annual Awards to Institutions.

First of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa, the Ghana School of Law was founded in 1958 by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the country’s first president.

It is the top law school in the sub-region and accepts students from nearby Commonwealth nations.

Appreciation

The benefitted students thanked their donors and noted that the gift came at a time when most students were having trouble paying their tuition and signing up for the 2022–23 academic year’s exams.

Some of the students emphasized how, under the director’s direction, school administration had consistently supported their welfare and academic growth.
