Kwadwo OPOKU, the defendant, is a 20-year-old unemployed man. He was given 30 years prison term with hard labor after being found guilty of robbery.
Before the court presided over by H/H Fred Obed Kyere, the court prosecutor, ASP Newlove Adjei, testified that on February 23, 2023, at 12:00 am, a level 100 student of AAMUSTED left home to continue to lectures, and on the way to the Sofoline Interchange, the student encountered Kwadwo Opoku coming in the opposite direction.
As soon as Kwadwo Opoku saw that the student was walking by herself, he gave her the order to hand over all of her possessions to him.

The student begged Kwadwo to spare her because she was a student and had no money on her, but he ignored her pleas and rushed on her, snatching her school bag, which contained a lady’s watch, an exercise book, a text book, and a phone charger, all of which were worth GH 700.00, before fleeing.
The locals in the area, who had heard the student pleading for help, gave chase to Kwadwo Opoku and eventually grabbed him.
He was stripped of the items, and it was given to the Suntreso Police as evidence. He pleaded not guilty in front of the court, but after extensive investigation, he was found guilty and handed a sentence of thirty years in jail with hard labor.
