WhatsApp Launches Individual “Chats Lock” Feature
WhatsApp is developing a new “Chats lock” feature, which was discovered by reputable WhatsApp tipster WABetaInfo in the most recent Android beta release.
WhatsApp added the option to lock its messaging app using a passcode, fingerprint, or Face ID to give users more privacy-enhancing options. In the near future, WhatsApp will expand on this functionality to let you lock certain chats instead of the entire app.
This function will help protect your private chats “locked and hidden” from prying eyes, as its name implies. Also, these closed talks will be transferred to a different section and accessible via the same, just like archived chats in WhatsApp.
It will be possible to use this functionality in both private and public chats. Along with keeping your media files secret, it will also hide your messages. Your privacy will be further increased by the fact that any images, audio, or video you send in encrypted chats won’t be immediately saved to the device gallery.

Also, WABetaInfo draws attention to an oddity with WhatsApp’s “Chat Lock” feature. According to what they say, “If someone tries to access your phone and is unable to provide the required authentication, they will be prompted to clear the chat in order to open it.”
If someone tries to forcibly access your protected chat, you can lose your chat history. Please take note that this feature is not yet available, not even in beta versions. The WhatsApp beta versions for Android and iOS should soon offer the opportunity to test this feature, which is still under development.
The industry leader in communications is also hard at work creating more privacy features. Ephemeral audio messages (playable only once), granular admin controls for groups, and other features are among those that WhatsApp plans to introduce.
