Two Students at Sankore drown while looking for clay

David Nyame and Tiwaah Regina, two young kids, perished in a sad drowning incident in the Bosompem river in Sankore in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region of Ghana on May 1, 2023. The 14 and 15-year-old students were enrolled in Sankore Preparatory School’s second academic year.

According to accounts, the pupils reportedly went to the river to look for clay for a lesson that involved both teaching and doing. They unfortunately drowned after running into trouble in the water. David Nyame was discovered on May 2, 2023, while Tiwaah Regina was observed the day after the happening.

The Sankore Police Administration removed the students’ remains for additional exams and investigations.

The school community, the relatives of the deceased, and the larger community have all experienced shock and grief as a result of the occurrence.

While we mourn the passing of David Nyame and Tiwaah Regina, we must act decisively to stop this kind of thing from happening again.

The funeral ceremonies will also be performed in the Sankore Durbar grounds on the same day as the burial of the two students’ bodies in the Sankore Cemetery on May 9, 2023. Our hearts go out to their families and loved ones during this trying time, and we offer our condolences.
