The government designates December 27 a public holiday
The government has proclaimed Tuesday, December 27, 2022, a public holiday through the Interior Ministry.
Ambrose Dery, the sector minister, revealed it in a statement posted on the ministry’s website.
The public is hereby informed that Sunday, December 25, 2022, is Christmas Day, a Statutory Public Holiday. However, because December 25, 2022, falls on a Sunday, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has by Executive Instrument (E.I), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, (Act 601), declared Tuesday, December 27, 2022, as an additional Public Holiday and should be observed a day later.
Due to the Christmas celebrations, Ghanaians will have a long weekend beginning on Saturday, Christmas Eve, December 24, continuing through Sunday, Christmas Day, December 25, Monday, Boxing Day, December 26, and Tuesday, December 27.
