A basic school teacher has his hopes of owning a home been dashed after his lifetime savings invested in land and construction were lost due to traditional land disputes in Akyeremade, a community in the Ashanti Region.
The teacher, who purchased land in 2017 and worked steadily on his dream home, had managed to bring the structure to the lintel level before disaster struck. Years of hard work and sacrifice came crumbling down when the incomplete building was demolished. The reason behind the destruction was a decision by the newly installed chief of Akyeremade, who declared that all residents who had purchased land from the previous chief must pay a sum of GHS 100,000 before they could continue any further development on their land.
Unfortunately, the teacher, who had already exhausted his savings on the project, was unable to meet the new demand. Despite his best efforts to secure his investment, the inability to raise the additional sum resulted in the complete demolition of his building.
