Student of Accra College of Education Arrested for Alleged Theft of Laptop and Multiple Phones

In a shocking incident that has raised concerns about security on campus, a third-year student of Accra College of Education was apprehended yesterday for allegedly stealing a laptop and several mobile phones.

According to reports, the incident occurred when the suspect allegedly sneaked into a fellow student’s room while most students were attending a program at the school’s auditorium. Unbeknownst to the suspect, the room was not entirely empty. A student, who had remained behind, acted quickly upon noticing the intruder and managed to apprehend the suspect.

When the suspect’s bags were searched, the situation took a more alarming turn. In addition to the laptop, the search revealed about eight mobile phones and several flash drives, all of which were suspected to have been stolen.

Following the incident, the suspect was handed over to the police for further investigation. The authorities are expected to conduct a thorough inquiry to determine the full extent of the suspect’s involvement in the theft and possibly link the stolen items to their rightful owners.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the Accra College of Education community, adding to a growing sense of unease among students and staff. Reports indicate that this is not an isolated case. In recent weeks, there has been a troubling increase in theft on campus, with eight laptops reportedly stolen from the school’s ICT lab alone.

The escalating cases of theft have raised serious concerns about security measures at the institution. Students are now calling on the school administration to take immediate steps to enhance campus security and protect their belongings. Suggestions include the installation of surveillance cameras in key areas, increased patrols by security personnel, and the enforcement of stricter access control to student residences.

As the investigation continues, the school community remains on edge, hoping that swift and decisive action will be taken to prevent further incidents of theft on campus. The outcome of this case will likely serve as a test of the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its students and their property.
