Strika Dropped from Dr. Likee Crew Over Misconduct Issues
Strika, a young actor famed for his role in the globally acclaimed movie Beasts of No Nation, has reportedly been sent back to Accra after being dropped from the Akabenezer/Dr. Likee crew. This revelation was made by Gunshot, a prominent member of the team, who disclosed that Strika’s exit was prompted by repeated instances of misconduct.
Gunshot, who took Strika off the streets less than a year ago and welcomed him into his home in Kumasi, recounted his efforts to integrate the young actor into the crew’s creative ecosystem.
However, he lamented Strika’s behavioral lapses, which undermined these efforts. Among the grievances shared, Gunshot accused Strika of stealing money from him on multiple occasions within the same room they shared.
Additionally, Gunshot alleged that Strika engaged in marijuana use, a habit that eventually led to his arrest by the police. These issues reportedly became untenable, forcing the team to sever ties with him and return him to Accra.
Strika’s dismissal marks a significant setback in his post-Beasts of No Nation career, as many had hoped his association with the Dr. Likee team would revive his potential in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
The Akabenezer crew, spearheaded by the iconic Dr. Likee, has become a hub for nurturing talents and producing comedic content that resonates with Ghanaians. Strika’s brief stint with the team seemed like an opportunity to rebuild his career, but his alleged actions may have derailed those prospects.
Gunshot’s decision to make this information public underscores the challenges of rehabilitating talents who face personal struggles. It also raises broader questions about the need for sustained support systems for young actors, particularly those who attain fame at a young age but struggle to navigate life beyond their early success.
As Strika returns to Accra, the entertainment industry and the public will likely watch closely to see if he can overcome these hurdles and reclaim his place in Ghanaian cinema. For now, his future remains uncertain, and his departure from the Dr. Likee crew serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of discipline and personal accountability in the creative arts industry.
