PSC Opens Applications for Director I Position in GES

The Public Services Commission (PSC) is inviting applications from qualified and motivated individuals for the prestigious position of Director I within the Ghana Education Service (GES). Job Purpose

The Director I will play a critical role in providing technical, strategic leadership and administrative direction to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of government-approved pre-tertiary educational policies and programs. This position involves responsibilities at both the national and regional levels, working under the direction of the Director-General.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Director I will:

  1. Provide expert technical advice on pre-tertiary educational policies and programs.
  2. Lead and coordinate the implementation of these policies at regional or national levels.
  3. Assess the effectiveness of educational policies and programs.
  4. Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems for educational initiatives.
  5. Oversee the efficient management of human, material, and financial resources within GES.
  6. Ensure timely preparation and submission of annual and periodic reports.
  7. Implement performance management policies.
  8. Prepare annual work plans for the region or division.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Certified professional teacher status within GES.
  • Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Educational Management or a related field.
  • At least four years of experience as a Director II.
  • Proven performance and exemplary conduct in previous roles.

  • Good understanding of public financial management laws and regulations.
  • Advanced IT skills.
  • High integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong report writing skills.

Terms of Appointment

The appointment is for a minimum of four years, with the mandatory retirement age being 60. Salary and conditions of service are as per GES standards.
