Police arrest one following KUMACA assault incident
A security guard implicated in the assault of a female student at Kumasi Academy (KUMACA) has been arrested and is currently aiding in the investigation.
This follows the Ghana Education Service (GES) establishing a five-member committee to examine the circumstances of the incident.
According to a report by Asaaseradio.com, the committee, which was set up on Thursday, August 15, has been given a week to submit its findings and recommendations for further action.
The investigation was triggered after a disturbing video showing several students violently attacking a final-year female student went viral on social media.

Samson Anawine Atogembero, the Asokore Mampong Municipal Director of Education, denounced the event and said the victim was identified and received medical attention.
“It is unfortunate and disturbing,” the director said.
“I see it as an abuse of a girl child, so we’ve taken the necessary measures, and so the security man has been arrested by the police. We’ve formed a committee to investigate this matter and identify the involved boys. Now the girl is calm. She was sent to the health centre and her parents have been informed,” Samson Anawine Atogembero added.
