Nyinahini Catholic SHS Teacher Arrested After Viral Video of Alleged Assault on Female Student
A teacher at Nyinahini Catholic Senior High School (NCASS) in the Ashanti Region has been arrested following the circulation of a viral video that appears to show him physically assaulting a female student on the school campus.
The arrest was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Daniel Fenyi, in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
“The Nyinahini Catholic SHS teacher seen in the viral video fighting a female student arrested! Regional Education Directorate is investigating the matter. Full report to be submitted to HQ,” Mr. Fenyi stated.
The incident has sparked widespread public outrage after footage shared on social media captured what appeared to be a heated confrontation between the teacher and the student. In the video, the teacher is allegedly seen repeatedly striking the student while several bystanders pleaded with him to stop.
At one point, the footage appears to show the teacher lifting the student and throwing her to the ground, despite calls from witnesses reminding him that the victim was a female student.
The teacher, who appeared visibly angry during the incident, reportedly responded by asking, “Is she aware she is a lady?”

The circumstances that led to the confrontation remain unclear, as neither school authorities nor the Ghana Education Service has publicly disclosed details regarding what triggered the altercation.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate has commenced investigations into the incident and is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the headquarters of the Ghana Education Service.
The arrest comes amid growing calls from the public for accountability and stronger safeguards to protect students from abuse and violence within educational institutions.
Many social media users and education stakeholders have expressed concern over the disturbing nature of the footage and have urged authorities to ensure that justice is served in accordance with the findings of the investigation.
The outcome of the ongoing investigations is expected to determine any disciplinary measures by the Ghana Education Service as well as any further legal action against the teacher.
