Nkwanta South MCE hands over 717 desks to GES
To improve the learning environment in Nkwanta South, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Felix Owusu-Gyimah has presented 717 dual desks to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for distribution to local schools.
This initiative, supported by the District Assembly Common Fund – Responsive Factor Grant (DACE-RFG), is part of the assembly’s continuous efforts to upgrade educational infrastructure and ensure students have sufficient learning resources.
The desks, designed for two students each, aim to address classroom overcrowding and create a better learning atmosphere.
During the handover ceremony, Mr. Owusu-Gyimah highlighted the government’s dedication to ensuring quality education for all students in the municipality. He emphasized that the provision of these desks underscores the assembly’s commitment to enhancing the educational environment in Nkwanta South.

The aim of supplying these essential resources is to foster a more comfortable and effective learning atmosphere for students. MCE Owusu-Gyimah also took the opportunity to encourage school authorities and students to properly care for the desks. He stressed that the desks are not merely furniture but vital learning tools, urging everyone involved to maintain them well so they can continue to be useful for many years.
Upon receiving the desks, Richard Apreko and other officials from the GES expressed their appreciation for the support from the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly.
He highlighted that the donation reflects the assembly’s dedication to upgrading educational facilities nationwide. This effort is part of a larger initiative to improve educational standards in the region and ensure students have the resources needed for effective learning. Mr. Apreko also pointed out that with the start of the new academic year, these desks will be instrumental in supporting students’ educational progress.
