MrBeast Launches Initiative to Combat Child Labor in West Africa’s Cocoa Farms

Renowned American YouTuber and businessman, James Stephen Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, has touched down in Ghana with a bold mission to fight the pressing issue of child labor on cocoa farms in West Africa.

In a powerful post shared on his social media on Thursday, March 20, 2025, MrBeast outlined his ambitious plans to rescue approximately 1.5 million children currently trapped in child labor in the region.

This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant step in MrBeast’s ongoing efforts to make a positive impact on global issues. As one of the most influential content creators in the world, MrBeast has built a reputation for using his platform and resources to tackle some of the world’s most urgent challenges, and his latest project is no different.

To address the child labor crisis, MrBeast has launched a free breakfast program in schools across Ghana. The idea behind the program is simple yet impactful: by providing free meals to students, the initiative hopes to incentivize children to attend school rather than being forced to work on cocoa farms.

As MrBeast explained, “Kids are more likely to go to school if they know they’ll be fed.” This gesture is expected to alleviate some of the barriers to education for children who otherwise might have to choose between schooling and supporting their families through labor.

In his post, MrBeast shared the driving force behind his commitment to this mission, stating, “I’ve surrounded myself with the greatest minds, and I feel like I know more about child labor in Africa than I do about YouTube now. I hope to make a lot of progress, and I’m bringing everyone along for the journey. I fear that if someone with my influence can’t fix this, no one can. I’m dedicated to this mission.”

The cocoa industry in West Africa, particularly in countries like Ghana and Ivory Coast, has long struggled with the prevalence of child labor. In many rural areas, children are forced to work on farms under hazardous conditions, missing out on education and a chance at a better future. MrBeast’s initiative is an effort to change this narrative and to provide children with the opportunities they deserve.

With his global influence and innovative approach to philanthropy, MrBeast has already begun rallying support from communities, organizations, and policymakers to address the systemic issues that perpetuate child labor. Through his actions, he hopes to inspire others to join the fight for a future where every child has access to education, safety, and a childhood free from exploitation.

As the project progresses, all eyes will be on MrBeast’s efforts in Ghana and West Africa, as his approach to tackling child labor could serve as a model for other regions around the world grappling with similar issues.
