How to renew your Ghana driver’s licence online

It’s crucial to understand that if you drive in Ghana, your licence must be updated or validated every two years. Luckily, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has simplified the licence renewal process so that drivers may do it online without having to go to one of their offices.

Here’s how to update your Ghanaian driver’s licence online.

Step 1: Check the Cost of Renewal

The cost of renewing an expired driver’s license is GH¢155.

Step 2: Gather the Required Documents

To renew your driver’s license online, you will need to have the following documents ready:

  • Your expired driver’s license
  • A colored passport picture

Step 3: Create an Account

Visit online.dvla.gov.gh/sign_in and create an account by providing your details and creating a username and password.

Step 4: Sign in to the DVLA Online Portal

Enter your username and password on the DVLA online.dvla.gov.gh/sign_in, then click the “Sign In” button. You will then be successfully signed in.

Step 5: Access the Driving License Service

Once signed in, you can access the Driving License service that allows you to renew your driver’s license. Click on “Driving License” and select “Renewal of Driver’s License.”

Step 6: Pay for Forms F1

You will be required to pay for Forms F1, which will be used to process your renewal.

Step 7: Undergo an Eye Test

You may be scheduled to undergo an eye test, which is necessary to ensure that you are still fit to drive.

Step 8: Pay for the Renewal Cost

Finally, you will need to pay for the renewal cost, which is GH¢155.

By following these simple steps, you can easily renew your driver’s license online in Ghana, without wasting much time visiting the DVLA office.
