GRIDCo Announces Planned Maintenance Shutdown in Central Region on November 28

Residents across several districts in the Central Region are expected to experience a temporary power outage on Friday, 28th November 2025, as the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) undertakes planned maintenance works to enhance power reliability and service delivery.
In a notice issued ahead of the exercise, GRIDCo explained that the shutdown is necessary to allow engineers to carry out critical maintenance on the network. The exercise will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., spanning a total of 12 hours.
Areas to Be Affected
A wide stretch of communities and districts will be impacted by the planned outage. These include:
- Praso, Jukwa, Hemang, Abrafo, Efutu, Asebu
- Fosu Township, Assin North, Assin South
- Abura-Dunkwa, Yamoransa, Edumfa, Abramkampa, Fante-Nyankumasi
- Cape Coast Metropolitan area
- Mankessim, Anomabo, Briwa, Saltpond Township
- Elmina Township, KEEA, Komenda, Ekumfi
- Parts of the Ajumako District and surrounding communities
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), which distributes power to these areas, also shared the notice, encouraging customers to take note of the planned interruption and make the necessary arrangements.
GRIDCo Regrets the Inconvenience
GRIDCo assured the public that the maintenance exercise is aimed at improving the stability and efficiency of power supply in the region. The company expressed regret for any inconvenience the temporary outage may cause and appealed for the cooperation of residents and businesses.
The planned maintenance is part of GRIDCo’s nationwide efforts to strengthen the transmission network and prevent unexpected outages by replacing worn-out components and enhancing operational safety.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to plan ahead, particularly for activities that rely heavily on electricity, as power will be restored immediately after the scheduled works are completed.
