Google Chrome Tests New “Store Reviews” Feature to Help Users Assess Website Trustworthiness
Google is testing a promising new feature for Chrome that aims to make it easier for users to assess the trustworthiness of websites. The feature, called “Store Reviews,” leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to provide users with a quick, reliable summary of a website’s reputation based on reviews from independent platforms such as Trust Pilot, Scam Advisor, and others.
This addition could save users valuable time when browsing unfamiliar sites, offering them a faster, more efficient way to check the credibility of a website before engaging with it.
As reported by renowned tipster Leopeva64 on X (formerly Twitter), the new feature is currently under development and will be available through the site settings button located to the left of the URL in Chrome’s address bar. While the feature is still being tested, it’s clear that Google aims to streamline the process of checking a website’s reputation by pulling reviews and ratings from multiple sources into one convenient panel.
However, users who click on this button at the moment will be greeted with a floating panel that remains blank, accompanied by a message stating that Chrome will use AI to generate a summary from sources like Trust Pilot, Scam Advisor, and Google itself.
This functionality is particularly useful for those visiting new or unfamiliar websites. Instead of spending time navigating multiple review platforms to get an overall sense of a site’s trustworthiness, users can access a single, AI-generated summary that consolidates information from several independent sources. This feature could be a game-changer for users looking to avoid scams, unreliable websites, or sites with a poor reputation.

In addition to the “Store Reviews” feature, Google is also introducing a host of other AI-powered tools to enhance security and user experience on Chrome. One such feature is AI-powered protection, which offers real-time defense against potentially dangerous websites and downloaded files. This added layer of protection could help users stay safe from threats such as phishing attacks and malware.
While these advancements are exciting, the future of Google Chrome remains uncertain due to legal challenges. The United States Department of Justice (DoJ) and several states have filed a proposal to address what they describe as Google’s unlawful monopolization.
If the ruling goes against the tech giant, Google could be forced to sell Chrome within six months, which could significantly impact the browser’s future development.
Despite these challenges, the “Store Reviews” feature represents a step forward in enhancing user safety and convenience. By using AI to summarize reviews and offering real-time protection, Google is positioning Chrome as an even more indispensable tool for secure browsing.
The feature’s eventual rollout could help millions of users worldwide make more informed decisions and stay safer online.
