Ghanaian Teacher Exonerated After DNA Test Proved He is Not the Father of His Student’s Child
In a dramatic turn of events, a Ghanaian teacher named Eric Dwamena has been exonerated after a DNA test proved that he is not the biological father of his former basic school student’s child. The case, which has been ongoing for several months, had caused significant distress and uncertainty for Dwamena, who was accused by the student and her grandmother of being responsible for the pregnancy.
The allegations against Dwamena first surfaced when the student’s grandmother reported him to the authorities, leading to his arrest. The case was processed in court at Kade and Asamankese in the Eastern Region, drawing widespread attention due to the sensitive nature of the accusations.
Despite the legal proceedings, both families eventually agreed to settle the matter privately. The student’s family initially demanded GHS 20,000 from the teacher as compensation, a sum that Dwamena was unable to pay. This inability to meet the financial demand further strained the situation, prompting the girl’s family to take the case to Oyerepa FM, a local media outlet known for addressing social issues.

It was through Oyerepa FM that a crucial development in the case occurred. The media house facilitated a DNA test to establish the paternity of the child. The test results unequivocally proved that Eric Dwamena was not the father, clearing his name and bringing relief to him and his family.
This case highlights the importance of due process and the role of scientific evidence in resolving disputes of this nature. For Dwamena, the outcome of the DNA test not only vindicates him but also restores his reputation, which had been severely tarnished by the unfounded accusations.
The incident has sparked conversations about the impact of false accusations on individuals and the importance of ensuring that justice is served based on facts rather than assumptions. As Dwamena returns to his normal life, the case serves as a reminder of the need for caution and fairness in addressing sensitive matters such as paternity disputes.
