GES Trains Stakeholders on 2025 School Selection and Placement Guidelines

The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) Secretariat and the Free SHS Secretariat, has initiated a nationwide training and sensitisation programme on the 2025 School Selection Guidelines and Placement Exercise.
This crucial exercise aims to enhance transparency, equity, and stakeholder understanding of the placement process for candidates who will be writing the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The ongoing training targets key education stakeholders, including Regional and District Directors of Education, Guidance and Counselling Coordinators, ICT Coordinators, Management Unit Heads, and Public Relations Officers.
The goal is to equip these officers with the requisite knowledge to train teachers and educate the general public on the revised guidelines and procedures for school selection and placement.

The sensitisation sessions cover key areas such as the proper selection of schools under the five-category system—namely Category A, B, C, D, and E—as well as the self-placement platform and resolution procedures for placement-related issues. The training also emphasises the importance of accurate data capture, thorough verification, and timely submission of school choices by candidates.
According to GES, the early roll-out of this sensitisation programme is intended to minimise errors and ensure that BECE candidates and their guardians make informed decisions. With thousands of students expected to transition into Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in 2025, it is imperative that all stakeholders understand the placement process.
The GES has assured the public of its commitment to a fair and efficient placement exercise and is urging parents, teachers, and students to participate actively in the sensitisation efforts at the district and school levels.
As Ghana continues to improve its education systems through digital solutions and stakeholder engagement, initiatives such as this training underscore the importance of inclusivity, communication, and planning in achieving educational access and equity.
