GES responds to the alleged assault at Nkwatia Presby SHS

The Ghana Education Service (GES) in a statement issued on August 28, 2023, with reference number: GES/ PR/ RELEASE/95, signed by Head of Public Relations Unit, Cassandra Twum Ampofo, has said its attention has been drawn to the disturbing picture of the student of Nkwatia Presby Senior High School (SHS) and condemns the actions of the supposed headmaster. 

The headmaster in question has been relieved of his duties while the issue is being investigated. The student at the moment is under medical care and also undergoing counseling.

It also stated that it assures the general public that it is committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students across the country.

“The attention of Management of Ghana Education Service (GES) has been drawn to a disturbing picture of a student of Nkwatia Presby SHS assaulted by the Assistant Headmaster (Academics) of the school.

The GES unequivocally condemns the actions of the Assistant Headmaster, who is supposed to ensure that students and teachers operate in a safe school environment. The Eastern Regional Director of Education is liaising with the school authorities and the relevant law enforcement agency to investigate the matter. Meanwhile, the Assistant Headmaster has been relieved of his duties, and the student is receiving medical care and counselling.

Ghana Education Service assures the general public that we are committed to ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all students across the country.”, it said in a statement.
