GES Requests Confirmation of Disability Status of Staff on Government Payroll

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed all Regional, Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Education Directorates to submit data confirming the disability status of staff currently receiving disability allowances on the Government of Ghana (GoG) payroll.
In a circular dated 10th October 2025 and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi, the Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), the directive follows a letter received from the Ministry of Education with reference number da9/378/01, dated 23rd September 2025.
According to the GES, the request aligns with a circular issued by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) seeking verification of the disability status of employees benefiting from disability allowances under the GoG payroll.
The GES has therefore instructed all education directorates to collate and submit the required data to ensure accurate and updated records are maintained. The information is expected to be forwarded to the Ministry of Education by Friday, 17th October 2025.

The circular outlines the following documents to be included in the submission:
- A report from the agency’s Medical Board confirming the staff’s disability status.
- A disability certificate from the National Council on Persons with Disability (NCPD).
- An official disability approval letter from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
- A copy of the beneficiary’s Ghana Card (front and back).
- Any other relevant supporting documents.
Management urged all regional and district directors to treat the directive with urgency to ensure timely submission of accurate information.
The circular, which was copied to key officials at the GES Headquarters including the Director-General, Deputy Directors-General, Director of Human Resource Management and Development, and the Head of Payroll Unit, underscores GES’s commitment to accountability and transparency in managing staff allowances on the government payroll.
