GES Issues Directive on Official Travels Outside Ghana

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued a directive reminding all staff that official travels outside Ghana require strict authorization from the designated Heads of Government Organizations, with no room for delegation.

In a circular dated 17th September 2025 and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), Acting Deputy Director-General (Management Services), GES emphasized that this instruction follows a communication from the Office of the President referenced SCR/DB236/378/01/25/A and dated 22nd August 2025.

According to the directive, the clearance requirement applies to staff across all Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), State-Owned Enterprises, and other Government establishments. Heads of institutions are, therefore, the only officers permitted to endorse such requests, and they cannot delegate this responsibility.

Regional Directors of Education have been tasked to circulate the information to all Metro, Municipal, and District Directors as well as Heads of Pre-tertiary Schools to ensure compliance across the education sector.

The GES has also attached a copy of the Office of the President’s letter for further reference, urging staff and administrators to adhere strictly to the directive.

This move underscores government’s effort to streamline official travels and maintain accountability in public service.
