GES Director-General Engages Teacher Unions and TEWU in Stakeholder Meeting

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, has reaffirmed his commitment to collaborative leadership by engaging key stakeholders in the education sector.

On February 12, 2025, he met with the three teacher unions—the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers-Ghana (CCT-GH)—along with the Teacher Education Workers Union (TEWU).

This engagement follows his earlier meetings with other stakeholders, highlighting his proactive approach to fostering cooperation within the education sector.

As representatives of both teaching and non-teaching staff at the pre-tertiary level, these unions play a crucial role in shaping policies that affect education delivery and the welfare of teachers.

During the meeting, Prof. Davis emphasized the importance of open dialogue, stating that listening to the concerns and suggestions of key stakeholders is essential for building a more effective and inclusive education system.

The unions, in turn, expressed their perspectives on pressing issues affecting their members, including conditions of service, professional development, and policy implementation.

The Director-General’s ongoing stakeholder engagements signal a new phase of leadership in the GES, aimed at strengthening collaboration between management and the workforce.

As these discussions continue, teachers and education workers remain hopeful that their concerns will translate into tangible policy actions that enhance teaching and learning outcomes across the country.
