GES Declares May 21 as National CPD Day for Teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the National Teaching Council (NTC) and KATON 360, has announced Wednesday, 21st May, 2025 as a National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day for teachers across the country.
This nationwide initiative aims to equip educators with essential knowledge and strategies on Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being. The training will be conducted virtually, enabling widespread participation and ensuring accessibility for teachers in all districts.
According to a circular signed by Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, Acting Deputy Director-General (Q&A) of the GES, all master facilitators have been adequately trained and are fully prepared to cascade the online training modules throughout the various districts. The training schedule and account details have been made available to guide smooth implementation.

In line with the National CPD Day arrangement, the GES has mandated that all teachers participate in the virtual training on the designated day. Regional Directors have been tasked to disseminate this information to all Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education within their jurisdictions and to support the successful rollout of the programme.
The directive underscores the GES’s commitment to improving teacher welfare and professional capacity, particularly in the area of mental health, which remains critical to the holistic development of both teachers and students.
This National CPD Day reflects the government’s broader agenda to enhance quality education delivery by investing in teacher development and well-being.
