GES Announces Nationwide Verification Exercise for Special Audit of School Feeding Programme

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially notified all Regional Directors of Education about an upcoming nationwide verification exercise to support a special audit of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
According to a letter dated 15th January 2026 and signed by the Acting Deputy Director-General (Quality and Assurance), Dr. Munawaru Issahaque, the Audit Service will conduct a comprehensive audit covering all beneficiary schools under the programme from 1st January 2017 to 31st December 2024.
Verification Exercise Begins February 2026
The verification exercise is scheduled to commence on Monday, 2nd February 2026, as part of efforts to ensure accountability, transparency, and proper use of resources under the School Feeding Programme.
GES Management has directed that auditors must be granted unrestricted access to all relevant records. These include financial books, returns, and other supporting documents, both manual and electronic, in accordance with Article 187(3) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 11(2) of the Audit Service Act, 2000.

Schools and Coordinators to Prepare
Regional Directors have been tasked to immediately notify all beneficiary headteachers and School Feeding Programme coordinating officers to prepare for the exercise.
