GES and UNICEF Collaborate on Report Writing Workshop for Inclusive Girls’ Education Initiative

The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has announced the organization of a report writing workshop under the “Build Back Better – Gender-Responsive Inclusive Education for Girls Project Phase II.” This crucial training session is part of ongoing efforts to enhance inclusive education practices, particularly focusing on improving outcomes for girls in selected districts.

According to an official communication dated May 27, 2025, the workshop is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, June 3 to Friday, June 6, 2025, at Menish Hotel in Adako Jachie, Kumasi. Participants are expected to arrive on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 2:00 PM. Sessions will run daily from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The GES, with funding and technical assistance from UNICEF, is targeting key education officers from beneficiary districts to build their capacity in effective report writing and documentation. The workshop is specifically designed for the following officers:

  1. Chief Inspector of Schools
  2. STMIE (Science, Technology, Mathematics and Innovation Education) Coordinator
  3. Girls’ Education Officer
  4. Guidance and Counselling Coordinator
  5. Special Education Officer
  6. Public Relations Officer
  7. Planning Officer

The beneficiary districts selected for the Phase II training include Ada West, North Tongu, Kintampo South, and Sawla-Tuna-Kalba. Each district is expected to send one representative from each of the listed roles to participate in the capacity-building programme.

Regional Directors of Education for Greater Accra, Bono East, Savannah, and Volta have been officially requested to notify their respective District Directors and ensure that the designated participants attend.

This workshop represents a strategic step under the Build Back Better initiative to promote gender-responsive and inclusive education across Ghana, especially in underserved and disadvantaged areas. The focus on report writing aligns with broader education reform goals of improving data-driven decision-making, transparency, and accountability in the education sector.

The Director of the Schools and Instructions Division, Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, signed the invitation letter on behalf of the Acting Director-General of GES, emphasizing the importance of this engagement in advancing equity and quality in basic education.

By empowering education officers with critical reporting skills, the GES and UNICEF aim to enhance the monitoring, evaluation, and communication of outcomes from gender-inclusive interventions, thereby ensuring that no child—especially girls—is left behind in Ghana’s education agenda.
