Europa League Draw: Manchester United vrs Real Betis, Arsenal vrs Sporting Lisbon

After defeating another La Liga team, Barcelona, Manchester United will play Real Betis in the Europa League’s round of 16, while Arsenal will take on Sporting.

With five victories and a draw from games against Roma, Ludogorets, and HJK Helsinki, Betis finished first in their Europa League group and are currently fifth in Spain’s premier division, 22 points behind Barcelona.

Sporting won 4-0 on Thursday in Denmark to defeat Midtjylland 5-1 on aggregate and go to the round of 16. They were third in their Champions League group behind Eintracht Frankfurt and Tottenham, who they defeated at home and drew with on the road.

In the Portuguese league, Sporting is fourth, 15 points behind Benfica, who are in first place. Héctor Bellern, a former Arsenal right-back, joined the team in January on loan from Barcelona to take the position of Pedro Porro, who joined Spurs.

Other matches include Union Berlin vs. Union Saint-Gilloise, Sevilla vs. Fenerbahce, Juventus vs. Freiburg, Bayern Leverkusen vs. Ferencvaros, Roma vs. Real Sociedad, and Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Feyenoord.

The first legs and returns are slated for Thursday, March 9, and the following week, respectively. Arsenal will play their first leg away, while Manchester United will play their first leg at home.
