Electoral Commission Addresses Delay in Payment of Allowances to 2024 Election Temporary Staff

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has issued a memorandum addressing the delay in the payment of allowances to all temporary staff who served during the 2024 General Election.
According to the statement, signed by the Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Services, the Commission has not yet received the necessary funds from the Ministry of Finance to enable payments to be made. The Commission reassured affected staff that the Ministry has promised to release the funds soon, which will allow the Commission to settle all outstanding allowances.
The memo, dated May 26, 2025, was directed to Returning Officers and all Temporary Officials engaged during the 2024 General Election. It also copied key leadership within the EC, including the Chairperson, the Deputy Chairman of Operations, Regional Directors, and District Electoral Officers.

Temporary officials are encouraged to remain patient as the Commission continues to liaise with the Ministry of Finance to ensure prompt disbursement of the pending allowances.
