CAGD Releases Official 2026 Salary Payment Dates for Public Sector Workers

The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has officially released the approved salary and wage payment dates for civil servants and public sector workers for the 2026 fiscal year.

According to a circular issued by the Department, salaries for employees of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and all other public servants paid through the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department will be credited on specific dates each month throughout 2026.

The directive, dated 23rd October 2025 and referenced CIR. NO.: T242/25, outlines a structured payroll calendar aimed at ensuring predictability and smooth salary disbursement across the public sector.

2026 Salary Payment Schedule

Under the approved schedule, salaries will be paid as follows:

  • January – 23rd
  • February – 26th
  • March – 26th
  • April – 27th
  • May – 26th
  • June – 26th
  • July – 27th
  • August – 27th
  • September – 25th
  • October – 26th
  • November – 25th
  • December – 21st

The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department noted that banks will begin crediting employees’ accounts on the stated dates.

Possible Adjustments

CAGD emphasized that any changes to the approved salary payment dates will be officially communicated to stakeholders in due course.

The circular was signed by Kwasi Agyei, Controller and Accountant-General, and has been distributed to all Chief Directors, Regional and District Coordinating Directors, Regional Directors of CAGD, and all banks.

The release of the salary calendar is expected to help public sector workers, particularly teachers and other government employees, plan their finances effectively ahead of the 2026 work year.
