A tragic incident has occurred at Atebubu Senior High School in the Bono-East Region, where a female student in her teens, identified as Sophia, has reportedly died after falling from a storey building.
The unfortunate event transpired amid a fire outbreak that caused widespread panic among the students.
The fire, which broke out on the ground floor of the school building, led to chaos as students scrambled to escape the danger. In the ensuing confusion, several students resorted to jumping from the first floor to avoid the flames.
This desperate measure resulted in injuries to two female students, who were immediately rushed to the Atebubu-Amantin Municipal Hospital for medical attention on July 3.
Despite the swift response, one of the injured students, Sophia, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on July 4. It is alleged that she landed on her neck during the fall, which likely contributed to her untimely death. The other student remains hospitalized and is receiving ongoing medical care.
