Amansie West DCE Awards Full University Scholarship to Rising Athlete Gladys “Gaza” Boateng

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie West, Prince Manu Morris, has awarded a full university scholarship to Gladys Boateng, popularly known as “Gaza,” a Form One student and athlete at St. Louis Senior High School, in recognition of her exceptional achievements in athletics.

The scholarship package will support her education through to the university level after she successfully completes her secondary school studies.

Gladys Boateng has recently emerged as one of the most promising young athletes in the Ashanti Region following her outstanding performance at the Ashanti Regional Inter-School and College Athletics Super Zonals held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

At the competition, the young athlete dominated the girls’ sprint events, winning the 100 metres final with an impressive time of 11.69 seconds. She also delivered another remarkable performance in the 200 metres race, clocking 23.93 seconds to further solidify her status as a rising star in Ghana’s athletics scene.

In recognition of her talent, discipline, and dedication to sports, the Amansie West DCE presented her with the full university scholarship as well as a cash reward and a commemorative plaque.

Prince Manu Morris praised the young athlete for bringing pride to the district and encouraged her to remain focused on both her academic and sporting careers. He noted that the scholarship initiative is intended to motivate young talents within the district to strive for excellence in sports and education.

Gladys Boateng’s achievement has been widely celebrated by sports enthusiasts and education stakeholders, with many expressing optimism that her continued development could see her represent Ghana in future international competitions.

Her success also highlights the importance of investing in young talents and creating opportunities for student-athletes to excel both in the classroom and on the track.
